Once upon a time, there was a story about a girl in West Java named Dayang Sumbi who had a child named Sangkuriang, one day Sangkuriang went hunting accompanied by a dog named Tumang, but Sangkuriang did not know that the dog was the incarnation of a god as well as his father. While hunting, Sangkuriang met a deer, Sangkuriang remembered that his mother was very happy with deer. Finally Sangkuriang ordered Tumang to chase the deer, but Tumang lost track of him and Sangkuriang became angry because Sangkuriang wanted to give a deer heart to his mother so Sangkuriang killed Tumang to take it and then he went home. When he got home, Sangkuriang gave the heart he got from hunting to his mother to be cooked. That's when Dayang Sumbi remembered Tumang and asked Sangkuriang, Sangkuriang answered with a scared face "Tumang is dead".
